Spicy Blackened Salsa recipe

Thank you, thank you all!

I want to start today’s post with a thank you note for all of you. This is my take is 2 years old now and all thanks to you and your continuous, tremendous and amazing support!  Many things have happened since its very first blog post, I got invited to great events, had very interesting collaborations, made my first Facebook group detox and had the support of very valuable brands. I feel really blessed to keep having your support guys!

Well... It's grill time!

To honor my blog’s second birthday, I want to celebrate with tacos; and as we talked before, it’s NO taco if you put no SALSA on them!

Today, I have for you one of the most traditional recipes straight from my hometown (Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico). This is a spicy and earthy –yet fresh- recipe that we put on top of either a fish, chicken or steak taco.

What makes this recipe so special? The ingredients roasting process is very important and you definitely want to keep an eye on it; in order to get that earthy flavor, you will have to wait until your veggies are completely black and almost burnt!

So now, I give you, my “Spicy Blackened Salsa”.

Ingredients (Yield 3 cups)

  • 4 tomatoes.

  • 1 jalapeño.

  • ½ cup cilantro.

  • 1 clove of garlic.

  • 1 tsp pink salt.

  • 1 tsp black pepper.

  • ½ lime.

Preparation (20 minutes)

  1. Put on some sunscreen and go outside!

  2. Preheat the grill as you usually do for 20 minutes.

  3. Grill the tomatoes and jalapeño for 4 to 5 minutes on each side. You want to make sure all sides are completely black before removing them from the grill.

  4. Time for a workout! I’m using my Zyliss Easy Pull Manual Food Processor to blend my salsa. Just put all the roasted veggies, lime juice and rest of the ingredients inside and pull! I love this food processor because it's super-duper easy to use outdoors and you don’t need any electric outlets!

All you have to do is enjoy a small dose of salsa right on top of your favorite taco!

Before I let you go I want to give a big shout-out to one of my favorite brands when it comes to kitchen gadgets, and I'm talking -of course- of Zyliss. Really, this food processor makes our lives easy and fun in the grilling area, the size of it is a super plus and it's easy to clean too! GIVEAWAY ALERT! GO TO MY FACEBOOK OR INSTAGRAM TO GET A CHANCE TO WIN ONE OF THESE!

Enjoy! And once again, thank you!
