How to Make Apple Tart

Sugar, apples, cardamom…

 

I hope you’re doing awesome! Remember I was talking about the baking frenzy I was in after seeing the Broadway Waitress musical? Well, I’m still in it! It’s autumn already and thanksgiving is just around the corner so I decided to give you a super easy and delicious recipe for the never disappointing and very much loved Apple Tart. I posted a similar recipe before but today I wanted to do something lighter for you.

 

I will use a pre-made crust but you can totally use my healthier option of a crust to get an even tastier result. Also, I’m merely focusing on the filling which I hope you love! I usually use cardamom for -almost- all my dessert recipes and this is not the exception and let me tell you… IT WORKS WONDERFULLY!

 

Alright! So this is my take on an Apple Tart.

 

Before getting to the ingredients, let me show you some pictures:

 

Ingredients (using a 10 inch pie pan)

  • 2 fuji apples, peeled and cored.

  • 1 gala apple, peeled and cored.

  • 1 golden delicious apple, peeled and cored.

  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom.

  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon (Mexican is ALWAYS better).

  • ¼ tsp pink salt.

  • 3 tbsp cane sugar.

  • 1 tsp lemon juice.

  • 1 tsp lemon peel.

  • 2 tbsp dulce de leche (I’m using leftovers from a jar my husband brought me from Argentina earlier this year, thanks hun!).

  • 1 store bought pie crust (we will only use 1 piece, not the cover). Remember you can use my recipe too!

 

Preparation

  1. Pre-heat the oven at 350 degrees.

  2. Blind bake the crust according to package instructions, I’m using a 10 inch pan for this recipe. OR use my healthier recipe! I like to blind bake crusts because I love crunchy ones, if you’re not that type of person then skip this step.

  3. Use a mandolin to thinly slice all the apples and put them in a medium bowl.

  4. Add all the spices to the apples, salt, sugar, lemon peel and juice, mix all the ingredients carefully, you don’t want to brake the apples. Cover the bowl and let it rest for around 20 minutes to start developing flavor.

  5. Take the crust out of the oven, let it cool for 20 minutes and the apply a coat of dulce de leche coating to the bottom of the crust. I used 2 tablespoons but you can add less or more, depending on your sugar tolerance/taste.

  6. Add the apple slices in concentric circles until you finish.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until you see the apples are fully cooked.

 

As you know, I always use vanilla ice cream to serve apple desserts, you really cannot go wrong with it.
