How to make Steamed Tilapia?

Thursday, August 9, 2018

Hello hello hello!

Hope everyone’s doing great and cool this hot summer! At least in Arizona it’s getting a little bit hotter every day! But that won’t stop me from using my little oven! Today I have for you my take on a Steamed Tilapia.

This recipe is great really quick and easy to make and I think it’d be perfect for when you have a big party at home since you can make everything ahead of time, already portioned and ready to bake and serve!

So here it goes!

PS. For all my Spanish speaker friend, I’ll post a YouTube video with this recipe. Just stay tuned and subscribe to both this blog and my channel!

Ingredients

  • 4 tilapia pieces.

  • 1 clove of minced garlic.

  • 2 zucchinis chopped in ½ inch thick pieces.

  • 1 juicy lemon.

  • 2 tsp finely shopped dill.

  • ½ tsp of pepper flakes.

  • ½ tsp of your preferred powdered chile (I’m using CHILE COLORADO, from México!).

  • ½ tsp of pink salt or kosher salt.

  • Olive oil.

  • Aluminum foil.

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven at 370 F degrees.

  2. Take your tilapia pieces and using paper towel, make sure to dry them up, both sides.

  3. Cut a nice piece of aluminum foil, enough to fit two piece of fish and make a baggie with it.

  4. Place the already cut sheet of aluminum foil on your chopping board and and now we’ll start layering the flavors in this order:

    • Add half of the zucchini, you’re basically making a bed for your fish.

    • Season two pieces of fish both sides with garlic, olive oil, pepper flakes, chile powder, salt and pepper AND put them on top of the zucchini.

    • Add one slice of lemon on top of each piece of fish.

    • Add half of the dill all over the fish and lemon.

    • And finish it with one more teaspoon of olive oil over lemon and fish.

    • Repeat these steps with the other two pieces of fish to make a second bag.

  5. Put them on a baking sheet and into the oven for 23 minutes. To serve, just get the fish out of the oven, let it rest for a couple minutes and open the baggie CAREFULLY! Smells good right? :)

And you’re all set! You can totally substitute the zucchini for a different vegetable just consider that those vegetables need to be cooked in 23 minutes, mushrooms would work great as well!

Now all you need is a glass of chardonnay or water and enjoy!

Thanks guys!
